The Poem of Ella Wheeler Wilcox

American Poet, Free-thinker, Journalist

Ella Wheeler Wilcox was an American Poet who lived from 1850 – 1919. She wrote, 1

There are two kinds of people on earth today,
Just two kinds of people, no more, I say.
Not the good and the bad, for ‘tis well understood
That the good are half-bad and the bad are half-good.
No! The two kinds of people on earth I mean
Are the people who lift and the people who lean.

Ella Wheeler Wilcox

We tend to partner and be around with people who lift us. For they are invaluable and huge assets to our group. We depend on them and invest time with them.

People with a positive attitude, who lift and help others, are those who we can count on. They absolutely raise morale in our society.

But on the other side of the spectrum, people who lean allow others to lift them. How can someone acquire a positive attitude without knowing negative attitude exists. We now have the power to choose and who to be.

This is the synergy of nature. Everything is perfect.
